Welcome to the 2010-2011 season

School's back in session!

Welcome to all new families to University Hill Secondary School, and welcome back to old friends. At the Parent Advisory Council (PAC), we are all about enhancing communication between families and the school (the school staff and your kids' teachers).

There are three meetings this month aimed at providing information about how the school works. These are organized by the School, and PAC will be there to help provide a parent event.
  • Sept 15: New parents night. School event but it is "PAC" hosted. This was attended by roughly 80 parents, there were many excellent questions and discussions, and we hope to provide a summary in the form of questions and their answers soon. Please watch this Bog spot.
  • Sept 21: Chinese and Korean night: presentations and question/answer mainly about how BC education works and differs from oriental schools. There will be translators, and and separate space for each language group.
  • Sept 30: Parent walk about, when each parent follows their child's schedule from class to class and teachers outline learning and expectations.
This year we have seen growing interest in PAC sponsored information sessions about aspects of teen-aged life such as social networking, school course planning and others. A tentative schedule of events can be found in the PAC information handout. A PDF version can be seen or downloaded from here. PAC contact information is also on that sheet.

Please use comments to send questions, comments or suggestions!

Thank you, Francis, Tom, Jill, Maggie, and others.
