- UHill Direct Appeal Fundraising Form - Chinese & English
UHill teachers and administration have asked us to make technology resources our fundraising focus. Our goal is to raise $40,000. With these funds the school will purchase two computer carts ($5,200), 30 iPads ($11,370) and 20 MacBook Pros ($23,960).
UHill moved to a great new building last year. However, new supplies did not come with the building and the school is suffering from less technology than other VSB schools, putting our children at a disadvantage. With continued budget cuts and the very high costs of technology, these computers are not something the Vancouver School Board (VSB) is able to supply. These computers will help better prepare our children for university and the technological, multi-media work world they are entering into. It will give them an advantage and the boost they need in a very competitive, technology-based and evolving society.
The computers and software will be bought through the VSB which means the VSB will provide ongoing service and maintenance of the computers. This ensures the computers will be a sustainable investment in the long run.
This direct appeal allows parents to raise money for the school without selling chocolates, or anything else, door-to-door. Additionally, you can get an official tax receipt from the Vancouver School Board for your donation.
Please consider giving a donation today. Donations can be sent with your child and should be handed in to the school’s main office by March 14, 2014. Please fill in the form linked to above and attach it to your donation.
Thank you for your support!

I don't see the point to focus on Apple products (Macbook pro and ipad). Is this recommendation from VSB or computer teachers? Any software related to these products?
Apparently there are more cheaper and quality products in the market. Dell computers(currently used in school) are examples. Why not upgrade Dell computers?
Apple Macbook pro are very good computers. But replace the bigger screen with small 13" MacBook Pro really help to prepare kids for university?
