How about expanding the safety campaign on 16th Ave, and including the parking lot at Save-On, where many, many parents drop their kids off, usually right in front of the sign explicitly forbidding them to do that. The parents who do this seem to not understand the basic rules of the road, and roar in and out at speeds beyond what is posted (30K). I have seen parents blast through multiple stop signs, drive on the wrong side of the road, and put pedestrians and cyclists at risk by their random behaviour (e.g., driving on the left side of the road). Perhaps PAC could monitor the drop-off/pick-up area, and remind parents that they are breaking the law through this behaviour. Being a scofflwaw is not exactly the best way to raise a child...unless you want to cultivate a sociopath.
Parent Advisory Council, or PAC, is the official voice of families at University Hill Secondary School, Vancouver, BC. All families with a child at this school are automatically members. We provide two way communication and advise on all matters affecting the school and families.
