New School update, Nov. 30, 2009

Parents, students, teachers, VSB staff and a variety of contractors participated today in a 7hr workshop aimed at identifying and prioritizing "green building" options for the new high school.

My understanding is that the School Board is aiming to try for a LEED gold standard certification, but of course there are a wide range of constraints related to being a school (not an office building!) being part of the UBC community, working with an existing building shell, and so on.

Further details will be added to this Blog when the workshop facilitator returns a summary of outcomes.

COME TO THE OPEN MEETING FOR ALL PARENTS IN THE SCHOOL LIBRARY AT 7:00pm DEC16th. TOPIC IS "NEW SCHOOL UPDATE". GUEST SPEAKERS WILL INCLUDE VSB DESIGN AND PLANNING PEOPLE. SEE YOU THERE.

Francis.
