Tonight's school information session for Chinese families was very successful. The library was full to overflowing, and the Principal and Vice Principal, as well as two counselors, provided important information about how the school operates, and school culture. Everything was translated by Susana Song, who is a professional translator at the School Board.

Also several names and email addresses were collected from people interested in PAC activities. This means we are a growing group of parents who are interested in our kids' school.

Our last meeting on Oct 8th was very useful for getting to know new people and for introducing some ideas. Now, we should discuss those ideas which are most interesting to everyone. The 4 main ideas (I think) are as follows. If you think there are other important matters, be sure to let us know when we meet.

1) Olympics

2) School information. Perhaps after tonight's meeting, we can decide what information is still needed by parents, and what information we (the PAC) can help provide.

3) How to volunteer and how to get to know our community. Hopefully we can learn more from Ellie about whether Janet Chung, who is working with Lord Byng high school, can help us at U.Hill.

4) A new idea from tonight, suggested by our Vice Principal, Mr. Wilson, is to discuss with parents which things being done at school are important for students, and which things are NOT so important. This would be a useful discussion for parents, and PAC is the ideal place to have it because there will be no teachers and no staff. Therefore people can be free to say what they think.

We hope to see you at the next PAC meeting, most likely Oct 20th, 6:30, in the School Library.
