PAC members voted this evening to endorse the VSB's proposal for new schools in the University area of the school district. Though parents at the meeting expressed concern with potential problems caused by construction during the transition period all in attendance were in support of the VSB proceeding rapidly with the plan to rebuild our neighbourhood schools.
The following motion was passed unanimously after an hour and a half of fruitful presentation and discussion of the new proposal.
Whereas our university hill area schools (elementary and secondary) have been stretched beyond their maximum capacity for nearly a decade, and;
Whereas as parents and community members we are concerned that further delays by the VSB, UBC, and/or the Ministry of Education will be detrimental to the educational wellbeing of our children and our community;
Be it resolved that the University Hill Secondary PAC fully support the current VSB proposal to rebuilb and expand the secondary school by March 2011 subject to satisfactory plans to minimize disruption to athletic facilities, school programes, and address construction noise and saftey issues.
