PAC open meeting, October 21, 2008

Important news about the new school

This year (2008-2009) may well be the most important year in the history of our school because planning for a new high school has begun. We are no longer trying to get a new school – detailed plans for modifying the NSERC Building on UBC’s South Campus are currently being developed, and all stake holders must be involved in this crucial stage. After construction begins it will be too late to have any influence on what is finally produced. We do not know exactly when planning ends, but we are looking forward to hearing news from our new Principle, Mark Pearmain.

THIS IS THE FIRST OPEN MEETING FOR ALL PARENTS. YOUR INPUT IS DESIRABLE.

Agenda

  1. Meet our new Principle, Mark Pearmain. Mr. Pearmain will provide short notes on events or issues at school.
  2. Outline of current progress on the New School front.
  3. Parents to brainstorm aspects of the new high school that they may be interested in or concerned about. The outcome of this workshop style discussion will be detailed minutes delivered to all parents, and to the Principle for inclusion as evidence of parent interests in his “new school” file.
  4. Suggestions from participants for topics about the current (or new) school that we (PAC and/or staff) could report back on at a subsequent meeting (likely early December).

Time and place

Tuesday October 21st , 7:00 - 9:00pm, School Library.

Please be there, especially if you have grade 8 or 9 children at the school. They are the kids who will experience the new facility!
