Decision put off again, we need to be heard!

Last night the school board voted to delay everything! The Board and the audience got 2 massive documents to mull over: one is the analysis of the feedback form which is actually quite encouraging for us (see http://npweblog.ca for a copy)), the other is the Mgmt team’s amended proposals.

WE NEED TO PEOPLE TO REGISTER AS A DELEGATION BY THIS FRIDAY 10:00am for yet more submissions to the board regarding the new reports. The presentations would be on March 11. It is very important that if it is at all possible that you try to register to speak to the board to tell them how important having a new school for our children is.

Please: everyone register, even if we are not sure yet whether we are actually going to speak. We are constantly outnumbered by the QEA parents.

Delegates wishing to make a formal presentation to Trustees must pre-register by contacting the Office of The Secretary Treasurer at 604-713-5286. Delegation registration deadline is 10:00 am March 7, 2008.

Being a delegate is the school board language for coming to give a a spoken presentation of no more than five minutes. It is a short time, but it is very important to have our voices heard. If we aren't heard then the likelihood of having proper schools will start to disappear.

It is now May 6, 2008 and I haven't heard anymore about what we can do to ensure our voice is heard before a decisions is announced by the School Board. U Hill Secondary is in dire need of larger and improved facilities. The school is already overcrowded with many students learning in trailer extensions. The conditions are deplorable. Several hundred families are moving into the south campus this summer and that means even more students will need school spaces. The best long term solution is to relocate the school in the NRC building on 16th - the kids would have a wonderful facility in which to learn.
